Assignment 3: Highkey-Lowkey

So I think this is an ok picture. It's very similar to the one below but I kind of ran out of pictures so i had to do this one. It could have used a little more burn but i think it's an OK picture.




So this isn't my favorite picture either, because it's not straight. And it's just not the most interessting picture.




So i actually really like this photo, because you can see all the little details in it.


I actually don't like this picture at all, but i'm really running out of time. In the lower corner i kind of did a bad touch up job because there was a lot of dust on the photo...


So I really like this picture just because it's a cotton ball, well a REAL cotton ball, and it really looks cool with the white background. Again because i bracketed i really didn't have to do a lot to this picture.

ok, so it's not the best picture i've ever done, but i'm kind of running out of time since our assignment is due tomorrow, and i'm doing this at home so i do not have access to Mr. Slade... So i really hope this is at least a little bit of high key.... So again i really didn't have to do much to this photo except for levels and curves.

There wasn't anything elso to do in this picture other than levels and curves, although again i did crop it just the tiniest bit because the background paper curved up a little bit.


This image was cropped a little because the shine in the top left corner was kind of distracting. Although the shine is still there it is a little less distracting.

Ok I just kind of wanted to say. I really liked this project although it was really hard, because it required you to think about your pictures and the set-up of them.

Burning Jobs

This is the bad job of burning and dodging. The exposer is set to something like 75 and the burning of the window is horrible. It's streaky and you can tell exactly where i burned. I also badly dodged the corner of the picture as with my shadow... so yea this is obviously pretty much a horrible touch-up job for this picture.

Ok well it took me forever to actually get burning right. I didn't dodge on this picture, although i did try on the upper right corner but then i started over because it kept coming out splotchy. So i ended up just burning the light that shows the window. It used to be a lot brighter and it took me several times to get it at least decent enough so that it looked like it actually belonged in the picture.

Ginger

This is my original picture. It's very bland and boring. No whites or blacks whatsoever, but with the help of photoshop it actually turned into a decent picture. In the before shot, she looks like she's squinting and there's also a piece of fuzz in the picture, which is kind of bothersome. 

One of the things i like about this picture is the static in my dog's ears. She's in her "guard" stance but her ears make her pretty funny. There is actually some white (the edge of the blanket) and blacks (her eye) in this picture and it doesn't look cloudy like the one above. You can actually see her eyes (which really aren't squited). I also used the healing brush to take out that peice of fuzz on the blanket.

Bruce Barnbaum

So this is one of Bruce Barnbaum's pictures. He has some really beautiful nature pictures, including this one! This is one of my favorite pictures of his. It's called Mt. Williamson, Sunrise. If you look closely you can see the rays of sunshine coming throught the cloud in the top-middle left corner. Also what makes this picture really pretty is the highliht of the snow on the peak of the mountain.

This is another Bruce Barnbaum picture. It's called Salmonberry and Corn Lily. I really like this picture because of the detail and shadows in it. The shadow and detail in the "background" leaves makes this picture pop and it gives the picture depth.

Poinseta's (or however you spell it)!

This is under-exposed obviously. It's almost black, except for a couple places.


This is my over-exposed photo...as you can see it's really over exposed.


This is my before photo. I chose to work on this photo because it didn't have a highlight that really drew your eye away from the picture as a whole.


As I was working on this picture, there was a highlight on the aluminum of flowers, and it was really hard to to get the leaves the right contrast without making the highlight going really light. Also just overall I really like the detail on this picture with the leaves.

Cereal Cereal I like Cereal!!

 

This photo i actually photoshopped at home. The original (which is what this one is) is really dark and i think under-exposed (right?). The tiles behind the bowl are white, and they look really grey. There are absolutly no whites in this picture at all. Although there is some dark, if you look in between the little cherios, you can see some darks, but whats the point with having darks if you have no lights?

When this picture looks like it's rightly exposed, it actually looks kind of cool. What I really like about this photo is the reflection of the glass bowl in the lower left corner. Also you can tell the tiles behind the bowl are white (Thank you white point!). In the original picture there are some white flecks or something in the cereal, i think it's just a reflection from the bowl, but it draws your eye so that you can't focus on the whole of the picture, so I took those out with the healing brush. Overall i think this is a cool picture, even though it not the most exciting of pictures.....(i mean who really wants to look at cereal all day?)

This is my image before i photoshopped it. As you can see it's really flat, like most of my photos. The snowman is originally white, and in this picture it looks more like gray. Also there aren't really any blacks. Also a thing that bothered me was that one of the angelhair's that was in front of his eye. Also there are a couple chips in his scarf that i took away in the "after" photo.










This is my picture after I photoshopped it. As you can see, it looks a lot better that the original. It has both white and blacks. You can actually tell that the snowman is white, and you can see the darkness under the tree. I took away a angelhair that was in the snowman's eye, and some chips that were in his scarf so that he looked like a brand new glass doll.
